Airtext Enhances Oasis Server with Composite Video for Legacy Retrofits

At the AEA 2024 convention, Airtext General Manager Jonathan Pinson highlighted updates to the company’s “Oasis” product, an all-in-one Wi-Fi entertainment server. While originally announced last year, the 2024 update focuses on bridging the gap between modern functionality and legacy aircraft hardware.

New Feature: Composite Video Output

The primary announcement regarding the Oasis system is the addition of a composite video output. This new feature is designed specifically for aircraft owners who wish to upgrade their system’s capabilities without performing a complete overhaul of their cabin hardware.

According to Pinson, this allows operators to:

  • Retain the Backbone: Keep the existing video backbone and current displays.
  • Swap the “Brain Box”: Replace only the moving map computer with the Oasis unit.
  • Increase Functionality: Gain modern features by swapping a single unit rather than rewiring the aircraft.

Entertainment Capabilities

The Oasis server continues to function as a comprehensive media hub for business aviation. Key features of the system include:

  • Content Storage: Options for both internal and external content.
  • Audio/Video: Two channels of XM Radio and hardwired audio and video outputs to drive cabin displays.
  • Gaming: Light gaming capabilities are included.

Cabin Display Options

In addition to the server updates, Airtext confirmed that their line of cabin displays remains a strong seller. These displays are supported by any Airtext or Oasis device and are available in sizes ranging from 8.3 inches up to 14.6 inches.
