Avionics News recently did a recent article about SEND’s 3D Map upgrades. See page 50 for details, or read below for the full excerpt.
Since last year’s AEA Convention, the company previously known as Airtext rebranded as Send, a maker of connectivity products, cabin entertainment and cabin moving maps. Now, the company has introduced a new 3D Moving Map.
The easy-to-install Send 3D Moving Map features 3D flight preview, seatbelt and “no smoking” indicators, and customizable elements such as livery and paint schemes, logos and briefing video. It also displays custom messages from crew to passengers, sent wirelessly from the crew member’s phone. Available in FAA-approved 11- and 13-inch options, the ultra-HD OLED display is antireflective and ultra-thin at .45-inches and can be used with any of the company’s Airtext connectivity or Oasis in-flight entertainment products.
Also new is MyTIS, a new feature for Airtext and FBOLink providing Advisory ATIS information for airports without FAA D-ATIS. It has the ability to get ASOS/AWOS and phonetic letter codes, landing runways and approach information, and is currently available at 150 airports in the U.S., Canada and Australia.
MyTIS “uses our unique set of hardware, custom software, and AI and machine learning to provide that (information) to the pilots before they’re on descent in the critical phase of flight,” said General Manager Jonathan Pinson.
